Option Leader: Mr. Tom Grigg
Do you like animals as much as you like people?
Would you like to make a difference to some abandoned and unwanted animals, and contribute to finding them their forever homes?
Do you have enthusiasm and resilience?
Hands-on work with abandoned and neglected puppies, dogs, kittens and cats.
We will be working with Kirsten’s Zoo Limited, which is a not for profit, volunteer run animal rescue organisation.
We will be assisting the Centre with the organisation, socialisation and daily routines of these animals, and learning to disseminate information to the public at large about how best to stop different forms of animal cruelty. The work will be mainly set in the Centre itself, helping with the care of these unwanted and unloved animals.
Kirsten’s Zoo is a great organisation that seeks to promote animal welfare. You will be teaching the animals to socialise and be caring for a group of puppies, dogs, kittens and cats, and helping in their re-homing process.
Kirsten’s Zoo Limited’s Mission Statement
Our mission is to stop the flow of unwanted animals into shelters that euthanise pets. We are committed to partnering with the community to provide safe shelter to lost, abandoned, surrendered and neglected or abused animals and to care for and rehabilitate them until they are able to be placed in loving, adoptive homes. We will ensure that the animals are spayed, neutered and have medical care provided to them. We will then board them in foster homes until we get them adopted.
Important Note: As Kirsten’s Zoo is run on voluntary contributions only there is an expectation that students will raise and/or donate a minimum of $500 each. The cost of this trip is based on transport to and from the Centre only.
